General Guidance

Experienced Driving Instructor Dorset

Introduction

You will need to hold a provisional licence with category B entitlement – or a Full Driving Licence – and present this to your driving instructor at your first meeting. If you need to get a provisional licence you can apply online. Additionally, your instructor will need a ‘check code’ to view your driving record online (previously shown on the counter part which is no longer valid/issued). You can get your check code online too. You must be able to read a number plate from a distance of 20.5 metres which is 67 feet – that’s about 5 car lengths. If you need to wear glasses to do this then you MUST bring them to wear during your training. Suitable footwear is essential. Thin soled shoes generally give more ‘feel’ for the pedals. High heels are not advised and Flip-flops are a definite NO!

Cancellations

In your own interests you are advised to be punctual for your lesson appointments. Your instructor will, if possible, wait for up to 15 minutes for your arrival at the agreed pick up point or address. If there is no attendance within that time you will have forfeit your lesson and fee. If you make the attendance within that time you will forfeit only the time for which you were late. A reciprocal waiting time may become necessary if your instructor is delayed due to unforeseen circumstances. Any shortfall of lesson time will be made up at the earliest mutually convenient time. Where cancellations or postponements of lessons are received with less than 48 hours notice, the instructor will make every effort to fill the appointed time with an alternative client. But if this not possible the full lesson fee will become due for payment (or forfeit where prepaid). Your instructor reserves the right to cancel or postpone a driving lesson when unforeseen circumstances arise, such as adverse weather, road conditions or mechanical breakdown. The instructor has sole discretion and their decision is final your instructor cannot be held responsible, for any reason whatsoever, for costs that you may incur as a result of such cancellations or postponement. Postponed lessons will be rescheduled for the earliest mutually convenient time.
